Some entries from our guestbook:

Our guest book is almost full with 6 years of comments. These are just a few.

11th - 25th April 2013

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at Wells cottage. Our family from England have had a fine two weeks visiting with our family from Maryland whom we hadn't seen in over three years. Your place was the perfect set up for our family to meet and celebrate our sons first birthday. We had many fun games of ping-pong and hours spending out on the porch soaking up the views! Your swing chair is a hit with all the family young and old in the hot tub warmed us up on chillier days. We would definitely recommend this place to friends and family and hope to return ourselves in the future. We were also pleased as the location is so close to all amenities and is only a short drive to Annapolis Baltimore and Washington. Thank you John and Marianne hope to see you in the future!

Dear John and Marianne

Thank you so much for the great time we had at your cottage. It was a base for the wedding we attended at Kent Island. Close proximity, welcoming and comfortable for our large family. The porch is very welcoming and cozy, the kids loved it and also the basement. We would recommend it to any of our friends.

Dear John and Marianne,

We had an absolutely superb time. Thank you particularly for ensuring that we had fun almost all the time!!  (How'd did you do that?!?!)

The house is wonderful in the porch is ecstasy. The kids kayaked the first time and took to it like water bugs. Nothing else to say except be well and we hope to be back.

The Albert and Mc Donald families.

We came all the way from Iceland to attend a wedding here in Maryland. This cottage is like heaven on earth, we enjoyed ourselves, when kayaking, swimming, and fishing. Thanks for everything John and Marianne.

 John and Marianne,

This is our fourth year vacationing at Wells cottage, where we can relax and experience a little piece of heaven. Although the weather was not cooperating 95° to 100°, the fish were still biting. The family caught well over 100 fish, of many varieties. The prize catch was an 8 pound carp, that gave the good fight. Due to the heat we had to concentrate on indoor activities such as the Baltimore aquarium, Savage Mill artisan Mall, and the national electronics Museum just to name a few. We also enjoyed the live concert at the Maritime Museum dock in Annapolis.

Thank you John and Marianne for your hospitality and another fabulous vacation.

John and Marianne,

Wow!  This will definitely be remembered as one of our best vacations!  You honestly think of everything (that is the engineering both of you).  We will be back. Thanks to Capt. Fred we were delighted with an evening cruise. The people here are simply wonderful.

June 1 through June 9, 2012

We would we agree with all the others, this is a great, great place to stay. Our party consisted of nine people, seven adults and two children! Six of our group were from Sweden and really got a good first introduction to the US. The two grandchildren, from Sweden, think this is “grandpa's house", and say the “US is the best place in the world”.  No need to tell them this is not your average home in the US. The large TV entranced the seven-year-old, the hot tub, the three-year-old.

We hope to return in a couple of years. This was our second time to all get together on the Chesapeake Bay.

Dear John and Marianne,

Despite the earthquake and hurricane we had a lovely time!  Very relaxing home, thank you for your hospitality and we certainly hope there is no damage sustained during Irene's visit. Have a great wedding.

Sorry to cut the stay short but Irene is demanding our attention.

Even though we were here in the heat wave, that still didn't stop us from enjoying our stay here. We visited all of the typical tourist spots and eight some of the local cuisines. We were able to visit the capital and to get a private tour as well as able to tour the White House (though we got kicked out halfway through because the president needed to use the rooms we were in!). We got to sit in on the Senate and the House of Representatives, and even witnessed a bill being passed (how cool!).

With the family being altogether for the first time in five years, it was nice being able to come home at the end of each day and all sitting around the table for dinner. We started catching crabs on Tuesday and by the end of the day on Friday we had about 30 crabs. Not too shabby considering how hot it was.

Though we were here for a little over a week, he came to a close quickly we could have stayed for a week longer but we all had to get back to reality.

Thank you so much for your hospitality and extending your home for us. Your house has become a haven for all of us to come and relax. Hopefully it won't be another five years before we come back and visit again!

July 16 to July 23, 2011

We experienced some of the hottest weather of the summer so far, but as long as we were in the water or our boat we were okay. We had a wonderful time. The first half of the week was myself and eight coworkers. We floated, swam, hung out on the porch, hot tub and went to Annapolis. We were lucky enough to score a ride on Fred's fabulous boat. My husband and daughter joined me on Tuesday and my coworkers went home. We fish, boated, tubed, swam, walked, eight crabs from Ray’s! :) And went to Annapolis. Carol's Creek and Harry Brown's were two great restaurants. Neighbors and owners and Fred were all very nice and welcoming! We hope to be back next year. Thank you!

John and Marianne,

It was our third summer visit to the wonderful Wells cottage and what a luxury to have two full weeks this year!! Every morning we've been waking up and having our breakfast on the porch, listening to all the birds and watching the water go from glass to small ripples.  We had some of Maryland's hot and humid days and boy was it great to be in the water! As always, we've enjoyed the kayaks, paddleboat and inter-tubes. Lauren had her banner fishing day, under the big tree, catching 23 fish, sunnies, white perch and yellow perch.  The crab pots were also full, but lucky for them it was just a catch and release year.

The very special treat this year was meeting Fred as he was on his boat for a few days, Patrick, Lauren, and several cousins were treated to dinghy rides specially fun to being behind “ Oat Bin”!

We spent a lot of time in Annapolis with Lauren at soccer camp, then Patrick at lacrosse camp at the Naval Academy. It was a special treat to see all of the new recruits for their first plebe week and especially to see the Fourth of July fireworks with them. Your cozy cottage and wonderful waterfront played host to many family visitors as usual. The first was the Olivers from Virginia, then with aunt Jenny joining from San Francisco the second week, we had the rest of that Hagerty clan here at various times. New this year we also had a day visit from aunt Loulou and uncle shark bait from New Jersey.

It is been a very special and relaxing time for us as we prepare to move from New Jersey to California. John, we can't thank you enough for helping us daily with our requests to print papers, scan, fax, etc. we couldn't have completed two house deals without your generous help!

We love your beautiful home your warm hospitality and the natural beauty that surrounds everything here. It will be a further trek, but we certainly hope to be back next year! Thanks for so generously sharing your slice of heaven with all of us!!

So much to do, so little time. It was wonderful to have all 4 Turner kids in one place. They traveled from; NY, NJ, VA and WA State. The weather was good, the accomidations were first rate we had a great time. Thanks for the memories.

What a wonderful place! We enjoyed the river & hot tub so much (and visiting with family from far away locations) that we forgot to go sightseeing. Oh well, well just have to come back soon.

The Sheehy clan had another wonderful stay in your beautiful home! This is our second visit to this area and your home! We will certainly be back again! Your home is perfect and perfect for us! Thanks for everything once again!
The Sheeys

This was a great place to gather family members from 3 coasts. We fixed a Thanksgiving dinner with all the side dishes & pies in your lovely kitchen. The cousins had a grand sleepover together. Thanks for the use of your beautiful home.
Our family had a fantastic time. The things to do in the area are limitless and the house and surrounding area are beautiful! John was really helpful in recommending places to eat. The kids loved the hot tub, the great fishing and the easy access to Washington, Baltimore and Annapolis. We loved the view from the house, it is absolutely great! We definitely plan on coming back again.

Dublin, Ireland

To great hosts - John and Marianne
To great neighbors Ted and Buddy
To great fish Many yellow and white pirch, striped and small mouth bass, a sun fish or two, a small blue fish and a little old pike! (ps. All put back for the next guest!) Also, thanks to Fred and Wild Oats for wonderful hospitality.
If peace and rest is what you seek,
Then come and stay at Dividing Creek!

The family get together at the cottage went by faster than what wed like, but we managed to squeeze in a lot of activities; fishing, swimming, kayaking, dinner at the Tiki Bar in a thunderstorm, the boat ride with Buddy, sightseeing, hot tubbing, shopping, and of course the yacht ride with our newly adopted uncle Fred.

We all thank John & Marianne for their hospitality and kindness during our stay and we hope to see all of them again next year.
Tomorrow morning well all be going in different directions to return to our normal daily schedules. But our time spent here for the last week will never be forgotten.

We can only say "Ditto" to all the forgoing positive comments. You thought of everything to make our experience a relaxing and enjoyable one...... and a most memorable one. We look forward to coming back.

John & Marianne,
Cant say enough about your home!! We had so much fun fishing, kayaking, paddle boating, shopping for the girls and going to all the sites in the area. (Medieval Times, North Beach Water Park, Sandy Point, but in all honesty the best part was returning to your home to review the days activities and gaze at the river. Youve got a real treasure here.
What a super vacation spot!
-Fresh caught crabs
-Water sports
-Special ride in Wild Oats
-Delightful neighbors and landlord
-Ping Pong for the young and tennis for the elders
-Screened Porch for meals
What else could you ask for???
Many, many Thanks

This was the absolute perfect place for Pat and I to spend our wedding week. Thank you so much for allowing us to host our rehearsal dinner here (everyone raved about the house and setting) and also for being such thoughtful and welcoming hosts. We also could not believe how wonderfully equipped the house is, and also how many wonderful activities we could enjoy in just one place! We could not have had a more perfect place for our honeymoon.
Thank you so much for everything!

Your home is absolutely adorable & perfect for 10 friends that travel together. We had everything we needed to feel at home & thats a feat for 10 women!
It was a pleasure having you join our mornings watering the plants around the porch. The view is so peaceful & beautiful. The suggestions of the Tiki Bar for crabs and Hemingways on Kent Island were excellent. (Try the artichoke and crab dip). Even though we were directionally challenged & made many u-turns we found almost every place we set out for getting home was the fiasco.
We had a family crisis & one had to return home but God performed his miracles & everything is Our week has gone by way too fast! Weve been to DC twice and would highly recommend a night tour! We took a private tour in a limo, if your party is big enough, it might be cheaper. Weve also been to Baltimores inner harbor you should see the singing fudge makers! The shops in Annapolis @ the harbor are perfect for gift shopping. This week has been too much fun Im sure well be back. Thanks again for everything-

John & Marianne,
going to be okay.
We shared so much here- laughter, jokes, tears, late night card games & we are taking away memories to last a lifetime. But as we leave, we are leaving our prayer of Gods blessings on your precious family & this perfect vacation home.
